-The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
You will Agree me saying that:
“French Fries are the most loved snacks amongst us. Not only french fries but also fried potatoes, this play a big role in our snacks.” For few people, they are not only snacks but also they consume fried potatoes in lunch or dinner.
Do you know?
“Around 2 million tons of fries is consumed by the U.S. in just a year.”
This would be a shocking news and hard to digest for the French Fries loving peoples. Still, I’ll say that please try to avoid fried potatoes till theirs a stone proof on this research. And if you consume unfried(Backed or Boiled) Potatoes also then theirs a good news for you. As eating of raw or unfried Potatoes leads to negative effect than the fried potato’s effect, it means that it reduces the effect of fried potatoes.
So what’s the report?
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition: From Research
Guys from this journal community were carrying a research on potatoes consumption in around 4,400 people between the age of 45 – 79 over the course of 8 years. By the end of the study, 236 people had died.
Adjusting differently with the eating of potatoes (lots of potatoes) they overall didn’t found an increase in risk for death. But when researchers closely looked at the type of potatoes consumed. They found that eating fried potatoes—including French fries, fried potatoes, and hash browns—at least two times per week was linked to a more than doubled risk of death.
Whereas consuming un-fried potatoes, like potato salad and boiled, baked and mashed potatoes, was not linked to an increased risk of death. Un-fried potatoes(white potatoes) are much healthy food instead as they have a good quantity of vitamins, fibres, and micronutrients. The author of the study also writes, “which could have counterbalanced the detrimental effects of their high glycemic index.”
Fried Potatoes contains lots of fat and added salt. Still, till now, the link is merely an association, and more research with larger groups of people is required to check the link before saying that “overeating fries causes an increased risk of death.”
Till then, The Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion recommends 3–5 servings of vegetables per day. While starchy vegetables like potatoes count towards that goal, the centre’s food pyramid instructs people to choose preparations of vegetables that are low in fat—not fried.
Avoid Fried Potatoes Till confirmation. And Accept Potatoes Other than Fried.
